Bishop tasks wives of church teachers

The Bishop of the Diocese of Oru, The Right Reverend Geoffrey Chukwunenye (Ph.D) has urged wives of church wrkers in the Diocese to allow the teachings of Jesus Christ to guide and moderate their conduct.

The Right Reverend Chukwunenye gave the charge in a sermon he delivered at a special thanksgiving service to mark the end of a retreat organized for wives of church workers in the diocese held at the Camp of Faith, Okigwe.

Preaching on the theme: Let Jesus Christ Be Your Example, taken from John 12:24 – 26, Bishop Chukwunenye said the meek and humble life led by our Lord Jesus Christ during His ministry on earth should be sufficient guide in the life of Christians.

He tasked the participants to be models and of exemplary character in their families and in public and to mobilize Christian mothers in their churches to participate actively in the work of evangelism in the Diocese.

The prelate urged them to be steadfast in their support for the ministries of their husbands pointing out that they had enormous responsibilities to discharge in the church set- up and prayed God to grant them the grace to carry the burden.

The President of Mothers’ and Girls’ Ministry and wife of the Bishop, Mrs. Joy Chukwunenye commended the participants for their calm disposition during the period of the retreat.

She also reviewed the performance of the Women’s and Girls’ Ministry of the Diocese and expressed appreciation for support and resourcefulness of the workers wives in the previous year and encouraged them to sustain the effort.

Some of the participants interviewed acknowledged that the retreat was very rewarding and commended the effort of the resource persons.
