The people of Oru East have pledged their determination to work towards the actualization of the proposed community Government councils and the commercialization policy of the Imo State Government.
They made the pledge at a sensitization seminar put together by the Imo State Orientation Agency for critical stake holders in the LGA.
They expressed appreciation that the state government through the polices would broaden and enhance the developmental fortunes of the state especially the rural communities.
In his keynote address on the occasion the transition committee Chairman, of the Local government, Engineer Calistus Igboanusi, observed that the focus of the Rescue Mission Government inImoStatewas on the people especially the down-trodden. He assured the people that Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha (OON) had perfected plans to makeImoStatean economically viable state and urged them to support the programmes and polices of the state government.
In his lecture on Community Government, the Director-General of the Imo State Orientation Mr. Romson Udo, represented by the Director, Information and Publicity, Sir Kofi Uba, said that Community government would help nurture democratic culture at the grassroots level in addition to facilitating development in the rural communities.
Sir Uba urged them to ensure that only credible persons from their autonomous communities were elected when the time comes, to participate in the community government.
Delivering a lecture on commercialization, the Head, Mass Mobilization, Planning Research and Statistics, in the Agency, Evangelist Victor Okereke, described the concept as a loud and clear wake up call for development consciousness in the state. He said that when commercialization fully takes off, Imo state would experience total elimination of wastages in the cost of public service delivery.
