Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, wife of the Imo State Governor, has stressed the need for unity in the current administration’s rescue mission.
Nneoma Okorocha was speaking at the maiden parliamentary breakfast prayer meeting held at the Imo State House of Assembly Complex, New Owerri, recently.
The prayer meeting was convened by the wife of the Speaker of the House, Mrs Eileen Uwajumogu, and other wives of legislators in the House.
Addressing the congregation, the wife of the Governor emphasized on the need for interface between the three arms of government to enable Imo move forward.
She said that the Rescue Mission is anchored on God and that without God none of the arms of government will achieve much.
She called for oneness, love and prayers for Imo to get to the peak of her development, assuring that Imo must be better in this administration.
In his message to the occasion, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, .represented by the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, said that the first aim of the Rescue Mission is to bring Imo people back to God.
He reiterated the need for unity to achieve the set objectives of the Rescue Mission which hinges on the betterment of the Imo people and asked for support for each other.
Presenting her address, the converner, Mrs Eileen Uwajimogu said that prayers would enhance the activities of the lawmakers by widening their wisdom, create unity of purpose, and making them pass bills that will be for the betterment of present and future Imo people.
She called for all to come together, especially the women, to give the men full support to take Imo to the promised land.
In a vote of thanks the Speaker Imo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ben Uwajumogu, described the programme as monumental as it was the first of its kind. He described prayer as the key and promised to appeal to members of the House to pass motion making the prayer a regular thing.
Delivering the sermon earlier the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Egbu, Rt Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Iheagwam, whose message was delivered by Rev._Canon Innocent 0. Echebima drawing reference from Genesis 11: 1-4 also stressed the need for unity as a panacea for peace, development and prosperity.
He enjoined all the arms of government to be united to realize the objectives of the Rescue Mission aimed at making Imo better.
The programme which was performed in the Anglican pattern was spiced up by singing and praises, prayers and choruses.
