The Owerri Council of Knights of St. Christopher, penultimate Saturday, held her first business meeting for this year, despite the fact that the Council, in recent months, has been over-stretched by deaths of some members of the Order in quick succession.
The meeting which took place at St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, New Owerri was not appreciably attended as used to be the case.
Preaching at the Holy Communion Service that preceded the business meeting, the Acting Spiritual Director/Chaplain of the Order, The Rev. Onyinyeoma Onyeagocha reminded the Knights and Ladies that the covenant they have with the Lord is a covenant of circumcised hearts, and assured them that any day the Lord would remember each member of the Order, even their enemies would join them in sharing in their joy and singing praises to God.
In spite of the recent deaths that have actually besieged the Council, the Chaplain promised that the Lord would make a level ground for the Council as well as make a way for the Council members where there is no way and also make muddy grounds strong for them to step on, likening their situation to when God created a way, for the Israelites to pass through the red sea as they were returning from Egypt.
The Clergyman noted that in spite of vicissitudes of life, God has never forsaken his people, especially those who have kept their own side of the covenant with Him.
