The new Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr Chris T. Dega, last weekend had an interactive session with journalists in the state at the State Police headquarters during which he urged journalists to see the police as “their colleagues in uniform” and partners in progress.
He explained that the essence of the interaction was to get himself acquainted with the press and to share ideas and views that would facilitate crime-fighting and urged journalists to feel free to call on him to confirm information or get new ones.
CP Dega said there has been a noticeable decrease in crime in the state since his assumption of duty, attributing it to the co-operation of the public and called on the people to always inform the police of all suspicious movements.
He disclosed that one of his strategies in the fight against kidnappers is to appeal to kidnappers’ conscience and to stress that kidnapping does not pay for which he appealed to kidnappers to engage in legitimate businesses.
At the occasion were the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh O.G Obeh, the PPRO, Mr Samuel Oodee and others.
