Oru Diocesan Synod kicks off May 17

AII is now set for the convocation of the first session of the second synod of the Diocese of Oru by the Bishop, the Right Reverend Geoffrey Chukwunenye, PhD at St. Barth’s Church Nempi in Oru-West local government on May 17, 2012 with the theme ‘Christian Stewardship’.

As matter of formality, St. Bath’s Church Nempi is decorated with a detailed glamour, similar to that lavished on a bride on her wedding day.

Adjoining host parishes under Nempi Archdeaconry namely: Emmanuel Church Ibiasoegbe, All Saints’ Church, Aji and their group of churches have in strong terms announced their readiness to receive the delegates and other visitors from far and near to the synod and to make their stay comfortable and memorable.

The host communities of Nempi, Ibiasoegbe, Aji, Eleh and Ofeahia including non-Anglican faithful have been so sensitized that everyone is looking forward to the great event.

The Archdeacon of Nempi Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. Barth’s Church, Nempi, Venerable H.U. Nnaoma has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation and pointed out that the beauty of the Synod would remain indelible in the minds of all participants.

Speaking also the chairman of the local organizing committee, Chief B.U. Ugbede said that “everything that needs attention had been addressed”.

Ugbede commended the clergy in Nempi Archdeaconry and their wives as well as all committee members for their diligence and commitment to the synod planning assignments. In a statement released to the press, the Synod Central Committee Chairman, Sir Bonny Nwoha on behalf of the members promised the  Diocesan,  the  Right  Reverend  Geoffrey Chukwunenye, PhD. his wife, Joy (Mama Oru), all principal officers of the Diocese and delegates a rousing reception at Nempi.

Top on the  list of eminent personalities expected at the Synod areHis Excellency, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okoroha and members of his Expanded Executive Council, his Excellency, the distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic representing Orlu senatorial zone, Chief Hope Uzodinma, the Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, the Right Honourable Benjamin Uwajimogu, his deputy, the Right Honourable, Donatus Ozoemena and his Oru East counterpart, Barr. Greg Okemili as well as the caretaker committee chairman of Oru-West, Chief John Okonkwo and his counterpart of Oru-East, Sir Callistus Igboanusi.
