A traditional ruler inImoStatehas predicted that three months after the proper take-off of the community council government, those he described as the “doubting thomases” will swallow their words.
The traditional ruler of Umueze Mbieri and the chairman of Traditional Rulers’ Council, Mbaitoli, Eze Dr Peter C. Opara gave the assurance recently in his palace while exchanging views with journalists.
He commended the vision in putting in place the fourth tier government and hailed the initiator, Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, reiterating that when the system is in full flow that the critics will commend the governor.
The royal father noted that the governor’s administration has achieved in one year what others could not achieve in 12 years.
He listed some of them to include free-education, massive road rehabilitation, and enhancement of traditional rulers’ status and the eradication of ghost workers, adding that through the governor’s administrative competence, some loopholes through which public funds are lost, have been sealed.
On security, he frowned at the rampart cases of kidnapping and assassination in the area and called on the security agencies to beef up their network to track down the culprits to avoid future occurrences.
The traditional ruler, however commended that efforts of the local government transition chairman, Barr. Ihenakwe and the DPO, Nworieubi on their efforts to ensure that some arrests have been made.
Eze Opara assured he government and the people of Mbaitoli local government of the judicious use f money to be trusted in the care of traditional rulers in the area for development purposes.
