Traditional rulers have been enjoined to abide by God and shun gossips and sycophancy to lead aright. Ahiazu Mbaise LGA TC Chairman, Dr. Kachi Nwoga gave the advice when the people of Okrika Nweke Autonomous Community presented their Eze-elect, Chief Hilary Okonkwo to the LG Council.
He pointed out that good leadership ensures durable peace and foster sustainable development, stressing the need to eschew clannishness and prejudice to carry all along irrespective of religious and political differences.
The LG boss charged the Eze-elect to be honest and transparent, uphold the truth and justice, cautioning against insensitivity and condoning crimes in any form or disguise. He guaranteed job/ wealth creation and rapid socio-economic development in the Community Government Council (CGC) set up and urged the community to close rank and unite for peace and progress.
Speaking, the LGA Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Godwin Obasi, urged them to sustain support to the Eze-elect to boost performance and realization of laudable targets. He advised the Eze-elect to adhere strictly to the state government directives on chieftaincy conferment aimed at checking indiscriminate titleawards and promotion of criminality.
In a citation, Okrika Nweke Progressive Union (OPU) Secretary-General, Dr. Wallach Onuoha described Eze Okonkwo as a philanthropist who has awarded scholarship to many students as well as contributed significantly to development of the community and the nation at large.
