St Peter’s Ikenegbu marks Father’s Day By Chinasa Ogbonna

The Fathers’ Day was celebrated vibrantly at St. Peter’s (Ang) Church, Ikenegbu, Owerri as the preacher at the occasion heaped the blame for the rot in the society on the shoulders of fathers.

The preacher, Dr Chibuike Nwachukwu who is a father in the Church argued that a good part of the rot in the society  begin from homes because some fathers become so weak that they cannot control their homes.

Preaching on “the challenges of fatherhood and the way out”, he asserted that for the foundation of homes to be strong that fathers as physical fathers have to operate as fathers in the spiritual realm and not to operate under the influence of flesh.

He then challenged fathers to be proactive, protective, caring and providing for their families and to be role-models to their children as children are highly impressionable.

He reminded fathers that they are the priests in their families hence it is incumbent on them to provide spiritual guidance for their families warning that a family not headed by a genuine Christian father may shatter.
