Akabo now Death trap for commuters

Commuters and motorists plying theOwerri-Okigwe Roadhave cried to the appropriate authorities responsible for road maintenance to come to their rescue before they are cut off  from the rest of the state due to the deplorable state of the Federal road at Akabo, in the Ikeduru local government area ofImoState.

Less than a kilometer after the Main Orie Akabo Market, by ChabOil filling station, there is a big ditch across the road which has obstructed the smooth flow of traffic. Hundreds of vehicles including heavy-duty trailers are daily stuck in the traffic jam thereby paralyzing economic activities in the area and the state in general.

Owerri-Okigwe road, is a gate-way to major cities inNigeriaand of great economic importance to the people ofImoState. As at the time of filling this report, two heavy duty vehicles have already fallen into the flooded ditch. One is loaded with logs of wood while the other is filed with assorted crates of mineral drinks and beer.

The commuters and the people of Imo have therefore urged the Federal and State authorities to expedite action on the road before it claims lives of innocent people.
