IG calls for divine intervention

The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), reiterating his zero-tolerance for corruption on a visit toLagosrecently, has stressed that the duty of Highway Patrol teams is to fight and arrest armed robbers and not to check vehicle particulars.

The police went spiritual as he prayed to God to expose corrupt police officers who he alleged have consistently scuttled the good intentions of the force.

He disclosed that he was always upset any time he read in the newspapers of armed robbers unleashing terror on the citizens despite the fact that some state governments have provided the logistics to fight and defeat armed robbers.

Acting IGP Abubakar emphasized hat his order banning police road blocks was still in vogue and that the practice had gone for good as he challenged the force to now patrol the nooks and crannies in the country to fish out criminals and crime.

He then sounded a note of warning to all Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Police commissioners and Area Commanders to rein in on corrupt officers under them as they too would be held accountable for the misdeeds of officers under them.
