Christians to fast June 16

Believing that passionate prayers are the sure way to subdue and overcome evil, the apex Christian body in Nigeria has declared June 16 as national day of fasting and prayers.
Issuing the directive recently, the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor urged Nigerian Christians to actively partake in the exercise in order to attract God’s intervention in the carnage being meted out to the Nigerian nation and especially to Christians.
The CAN boss who spoke during a reception in his honour in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, asserted that the exercise has become imperative because fasting and prayer are “the key to opening all doors and shutting all doors of Boko Haram” adding that the Church has a responsibility to change Nigeria.
Harping on the need for all Christian denominations to close ranks in the fight against Boko Haram, Pastor Oritsejafor noted that “God does not see them according to their denominations but as one body.”
“Those who fight the Church fight it as one and not by name”, the CAN helmsman posited.
He declared that he would always speak up against the killings targetted at Christians especially in the northern part of the country.
