The Bishop, Diocese of Oru, the Right Reverend Geoffrey Chukwunenye, PhD has stressed the importance of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian and urged parents to encourage their children to seek wisdom and knowledge from the scriptures.
Bishop Chukwunenye who stated this on the Pentecost Sunday during a Eucharist service of confirmation at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Mgbidi in Oru West LGA reminded the congregation that the beginning of life for the youth is the fear of God.
The Prelate said the gift of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost day is to renew and strengthen the faith of Christians and called on them to always seek the Kingdom of God and its righteousness for their heart desires to be granted.
He called on the newly confirmed to respect constituted authorities and aspire to be useful citizens by taking their studies and vocations seriously.
Dr Chukwunenye spoke on the significance of their confirmation on Pentecost day and warned them not to backslide from things concerning the worship of God.
He commended the parishioners for being faithful in their Christian conduct and urged them to sustain the effort.
The Vicar and Canon of the Cathedral, Reverend Cannon Chidi Ikegwuonu thanked the Bishop for the pastoral visit and wished him well.
Some of those confirmed expressed delight over their new status and promised to remain faithful to God.
