A three-day Evangelical Outreach organized by the Council of Knights of the Anglican Diocese on the Lake has ended at the Anglican Church of Ascension, Amanwanyiocha, farmstead Area in Oguta Local Government of Imo State.
Highlight on the occasion was free medical programme administered on over 120 dwellers of the Farmstead Area.
Flagging off the free medicare programme, the Bishop, Diocese on the Lake, Rt. Rev. C.B.N. Oti, said that Evangelism is a holistic exercise in which one should be physically fit so as to worship God comfortably or even go to the farm to get food for the family.
Bishop Oti disclosed that apart from establishing three churches in the area to assuage the religious needs of the inhabitants, the Diocese embarked upon the free medicare journey having discovered that no medicare facility exists in the entire farm settlement.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take the medication seriously according to the doctor’s prescription and commended the Parish Priest of the farmstead Area, Rev. Chinedu Ogbonna, for organizing the outreach as well as maintaining the pace set by the first Evangelist in the area, Mr. Ikechuk’wu Aniche.
Concerning the medical situation in the area, the leader of the medical team, Dr. Ernest Nwaigbo, described the experience as exciting pointing out that the prevailing ailments in the area included malaria, arthritis, hypertension, diabetes as well as skin diseases and urged people of the area to always take diets comprising protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and other food components.
Expressing his delight over the exercise, the President, Council of Knights of the Diocese, Sir Uche Osoagba thanked all those who contributed to the success of the exercise. Among the Knights that attended the Outreach were Sir Celestine Anyiam, Charles Ihemeaguba, Emma Anumaka, Edwin Ukachukwu, Prosper Okoroafor, Anthony Nnani and Dame Binyelum Emeni.
