History was made last Sunday in the Anglican Diocese of Owerri as St Mark’s Anglican Church, Amakohia, Owerri planted a new church in the Works Layout axis of Owerri Metropolis.
Preaching the sermon at a service to mark the occasion, the E.F.A.C leader of St. Peter’s (Ang) Church Odakpu-Onitsha, Evangelist Onyebuchi Ugwuanyi counseled the congregation to be holy and spiritual while partnering with the “Holy Spirit” as the Holy Spirit ian energizer of God’s purpose.
He submitted that God used the Holy Spirit from creation of the earth to the time of Jesus Christ in perfecting his actions, such as the destruction of earth at the time of Noah, the baptism of Christ which came with Pentecostal power and ministration.
The preacher urged the congregation to always listen to the silent voice of the Holy Spirit which leads the hearer aright and drivesaway fear and bad spirit in him.
The service was conducted by the Vicar of St. Marks Amakohia, Rev. Canon Chukwuma Oparah, Ph.D JP while Brother Kelechi Umeh read the 1st lesson from Joel 2:21-end. Second lesson drawn from the book of Romans 8:1-17 was read by Mrs C. Oparah.
Highlight of the occasion were appointment of Mr Nwabueze and Mrs Chioma Ajaero as the interim Peoples Warden and Treasurer respectively, and a donation of a band set as well as plastic chairs to the new Chapel Church by St. Mark’s Amakohia.
