Bishop commends Okorocha’s education policy

Bishop Emmanuel Maduwike of the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru has commended the Imo State government’s policy on education.

Speaking to newsmen recently, in his office in Attah, the Bishop specifically praised the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, for releasing N5million out of the N10million which he promised to give returned mission schools in the state.

He described the Governor as a true lover of education and hoped the balance would soon be released to enable the concerned institutions fix dilapidated infrastructure and enhance qualitative and functional education in the state.

The prelate who was fielding questions from news men on the forthcoming 3rd Anniversary  of the official inauguration of the Ikeduru Diocese slated to hold on Sunday, 15th, July 2012 at the Cathedral Church of St. Matthew Atta said the event is a celebration of three years of God’s goodness and faithfulness, adding, it is the Lord’s doing, it is marvelous in our eyes.

According to Bishop Maduwike, an anniversary planning committee has been set up with Sir Barr. Chimezie F. Ekwueme as the chairman.

It will be an appraisal of three-years of God’s favour upon His people in the areas of evangelism, social welfare, education, health-care delivery and Women’s Ministries.

Others are Christian Fathers’ Fellowship, Youth and Children’s Ministries, Faith and Caring, Holy Order of Knighthood, empowerment of youths, orphans, widows and widowers, projects monitoring and implementation, and others.

The week-long activity will feature free medical treatment for all irrespective of religious denominations and systemic Bible exposition.

The high-points of this year’s celebration include, Diaconate and Priestly Ordination, Presentation of Builders’ Awards to deserving  sons, daughters and friends of Ikeduru Diocese both at home and in the diaspora. There will be also fund-raising in support of the new Cathedral Building.

Personalities expected in this year’s anniversary include  top government officials, federal and state legislators, traditional rulers and clergy within and outside the Diocese.

Ikeduru Anglican Diocese was officially inaugurated on the 14th July, 2009, with Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chigozie Maduwike enthroned as the pioneer Bishop. The theme of this year’s anniversary is , THUS FAR, THE LORD HATH LED US”.
