St. Peter’s (Ang), Church, Irete Chapel was recently planted at Umuelele, New Layout, Irete in Owerri West Local government of Imo State.
The event was preceded by a two-day open air crusade driven by Evangelist Duru, a member of Evangelical Fellowship in Anglican Communion (EFAC) of St Peter’s Church Irete.
Preaching at the special service conducted by Bro Izu Ofurum, the Curate of St Peter’s Church, Rev. Eleazar Okere reminded Christians that they stood the risk of losing God’s favour if they deviate from His ways.
Preaching on the theme; “Jehovah is my Ebenezar”, Rev Okere recalled that Ebenezar’ was a memorable stone of help for the Israelites which they, unfortunately, ignored hence they were defeated by the Philistines.
He said that the Israelites suffered defeat because they disobeyed and forgot God.
The preacher assured that once Christians repented from sin and turn to God that he would restore them as He did the Israelites by delivering them from 20-year bondage under the Philistines.
Rev Okere then submitted that Nigeria’s salvation would come only if Nigerians repented and turn to God, not through what he referred to as “national collections and connections”.
One of the high-points of the programme was the donation of their school by Barr Sir and Lady Chike Osuoha as temporary site for the new Chapel.
The special service was also an occasion for the dedication of Master Wisdom Chukwuemeka Duru, son of Evangelist and Mrs Stephen Duru by Rev Okere.
