Cleric assures Christians of God’s protection

Resident Priest of St Matthias Anglican Church,.Umuchima, Ihiagwa in Owerri West Local Government Area, Rev Eugene Amadi assured Christians that God has made adequate provision for all circumstance of their life .

In his homily at a Eucharistic service, with the  theme “Do not worry”, Rev Amadi explained that God has seen their misery and that those situations that cause anxious moments in their lives were already known to Him. Making reference to Exodus Chapter 3 verse 7 the Cleric said God has seen their affliction, heard their cries and has known their sorrows.

Rev Amadi while acknowledging that it was natural for human beings to be afraid of what would behold them the next moment, giving rise to their being anxious, urged Christians never to be worried of tomorrow, stressing that the troubles of today were enough for the day; as their anxiety would not make any change in their situation. He further explained that rather their worries often translate to anger which get them tensed up leading to drift in their faith.

The Anglican Cleric observed that it was in such circumstance that they lose focus  and waiver in their trust in God. He noted that it was also in such situation that many professed Christians find themselves into idolatry instead of steadfastly looking on to God.He explained that they cannot claim to be adherents of Christianity while into idolatry, recalling the Biblical injunction that “no one can serve two masters” at the same time , nor “serve God and mammon”. He lamented that there were a lot of people who profess Christianity but at the same time go to shrines of lesser deities to seek solution to their problems.

Rev Amadi challenged Christians to wholly accept Christ in their lives in order to allow Him have absolute control of their problems in keeping with the scriptures that urged them to cast their burdens on Christ for “He cares”.

The First Bible lesson of the well attended service was taken from Deuteronomy Chapter 7 verses 6-11 and was read by Evangelist Godwin Ekwue of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
