In his opening speech, Bishop Diocese on the Lake, the Rt Rev. CBN Oti reviewed the trends of events as recorded in the book of Jeremaih, chapter 15 and said  that even in this present time, “we as a people, church and generation” are not better off. He re-emphasized that the prayer summit was not only an opportunity to say the usual routine prayers but a period to petition God and present all our cases to him.

On the theme of the summit, Bishop Oti noted that these days righteousness was no longer being preached rather people now preach warfare and vengeance just as even the wicked will ask God to fight against those fighting them.

One of the Guest Speakers, Rev. Evans Amadi of St Pauls Anglican Church, Umuguma, Owerri Diocese, in his talk entitled, “Dealing with your foundation”, said that Jesus Christ was not interested in the number of people at a particular prayer ground but  in those who are prepared to deny themselves so as to make heaven.

Speaking on, “Understanding spiritual warfare1, Rev Ikedi Okoro posited that no matter the mechanism of the human being against the words of God, the church must continue to march on.

Rev. Okoro described the human mind as a battle ground where the Holy Spirit and the flesh are always at war, adding that it is only the being that determines who wins either by remaining prayerful or by living in sin.

Venerable Casmir Ukonu who spoke on, “the place of prayer in a believers life”, described prayer as an activity of life where a believer interacts with God.
