Education is the process of learning and acquiring information. Education in the general sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect of the mind, character or physical ability of an individual.
According to Bill Beatie “The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to think, rather to improve air minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.” While Robert Hutchins says it is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.
Education enhances lives, it extinguishes generational cycles of poverty and diseases and provides a foundation for sustainable development. Are you ready to showcase your skills and confidence, achieve your dreams and aspirations and enhance the lives of your family members. God created each of us for a specific purpose, to fulfill his purpose in our life. You are not here by accident. God has a plan for your life. His plan gives life. Everyone has the capacity and potential to be great, to be successful, it’s just a matter of deciding what your purpose is, focus on your intention and manifest your vision and dream into reality.
Success is not a specific destination, nor a never ending journey that you choose. It is your consistent progress towards achieving your highest purpose, your vision in all areas of your life. Success is about achieving balance in all the key areas of your life, physically intellectually, spiritually and relationally.
Success is not based on who you know, rather the depth of your belief in yourself, hard work, consistency and remaining focused. Your destiny is in your hands, focus is the master key to the golden door of success. It is anything that consumes your time, energy finance and attention. It is sad that students that are sent to school to learn, most of the time when they are supposed to be reading engage themselves in things that are not academically useful to them. They spend most of their time on frivolous thing such as exploring facilities on cell phones like face book, twitter, 2go, watching cable network on television, playing unlimited video games, music, watching European football and other programmes.
What happens in our educational system these days is nothing to be desired. What is in vogue is to become a member of secret cult whose membership, transactions and model of operations are carried out in the secret with terrible oaths their members are bound to. They care less for morality, rules and regulations of their institutions.
How can a student be carrying dangerous weapons and initiating student at night? Is that what your parents sent you to do? Many hide under it to steal and kidnap, living extravagant and violent lives. The tears of parents are much as they, have left them in perpetual pains and anguish through the untimely deaths of their loved ones and those maimed for life with permanent disability, running their purpose on earth. It was Myles Munroe who said that “the greatest tragedy in life is not death but life that fails to fulfill its purpose.”
What kind of power or status do you think you can acquire from cultism? It is disheartening and a great tragedy to see our students get involved in this anti social activity and be rusticated in the end. It’s not your portion, reject it now and make a U-turn in your life. According to Jephter Akaehie “To be successful, it really requires doing what successful people do, which is becoming action oriented.”
Hard work is the master key for academic success. I want to assure you that you are a success story and not a failure. Take action today. You possess certain qualities, specific gift and worthy traits that make you unique. Understand the importance of your uniqueness. Do not move away from the essence of what God made you. God gave you a purpose in life, find it and create your own success”.
To build academic success, it takes a combination of skills –
1. Organization:- Students need to be organized to succeed in school. For many students; academic challenges are related more to a lack of organization than to lack of intellectual ability.
2. Time Management:- Some students find it difficult to start assignment or project until last minute. It takes practice and experience to organize time into productive blocks.
3. Prioritization:- This is a skill students need throughout life, so start now to prioritize you activities.
4. Concentration:- Student should concentrate on their studies for them to succeed and avoid acts that are inimical to the progress of their studies.
5. Students need motivation to succeed academically:-Many are faced with a lot of pressures that distract them. They need to work in a clam atmosphere so as to achieve good results.
Life is what you make of it, as you make your bed, so you lie on it. Winston Churchill tells us that “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Therefore, Be Different and Make a Big Difference.
Any student that does what other student can do, is and Ordinary Student the student that can do what no other student can do is an Exceptional Student but any student that does what has not been done by any other student is a National Asset, a Genius and an Institution. So, my dear students where do you belong or do you want to belong?
God has endowed you with a lot of potential and all eyes are on you to appreciate what God has deposited in your life, so fulfill you mission on earth.
