A four-day Bible Study Conference of the Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF), Owerri Ecclesiastical Province will be rounded off today with a thanksgiving service and award ceremony at the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Egbu.
The biennial conference, fifth in the series, kicked off last Thursday, August 2, as the Archbishop of the Province, Most Rev. Benneth Okoro, PhD, declared the conference open on Friday.
Speaking earlier in an interactive session with newsmen in Owerri, the Provincial President of the AYF, Prince Eugene Orisakwe listed highlights of the conference with the theme “Lord Increase our Faith in times like this” (Luke 17:5).
Barrister Tochukwu Kemakolam was the chairman at the event which featured Bible expositions, teachings and seminars on the youth and their health alongside drug abuse and its effects.
Also speaking, the Provincial Chaplain, Ven. Cyril Okorie stressed the importance of the conference, describing it as forum during which the youths were inculcated with good values and virtues which would prepare them for future leadership positions.
He explained that by the end of the conference, participants would have learnt how to eschew youthful exuberance, adding that the nation was facing numerous challenges which the youths.
