Over 100 people were displaced after a heavy downpour that destroyed more than 50 houses in different locations in Nguru town of Yobe State on Monday.
A correspondent gathered that the rainfall, which started around 1pm and lasted more than four hours, destroyed many buildings at Bulaburin, Tsohuwar Nguru and Unguwar Kanuri areas of the town.
A resident in the area told our correspondent that over 10 persons were removed from collapsed buildings and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
A source from the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru also confirmed receiving over 10 victims of the flood disaster. “Some with complex conditions were admitted but majority of them are at the emergency unit”, the source said.
