Tongues have begun to wag once again over the activities of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) men who, residents believe, would soon rubbish the good work of Governor Rochas Okorocha and his rescue mission.
A case in point was a multiple accident which the ENTRACO team caused on Okigwe Road, near Bala Suya spot at works Layout, Owerri
Eye Witness accounts have it that men in ENTRACO uniform were in hot pursuit of a trailer which eventually ran into the opposite lane to hit another trailer.
Five tricycles were reportedly involved in the accident and the fate of occupants of the badly damaged tricycles (aka keke) who were said to have been rushed to the hospital was not known at the time of this report.
Another motorist who fell into the trap of ENTRACO said that the men collected N1,000 from him for allegedly violating a one-way traffic law.
The motorist who gave his name simply as Johnny, said that there was no sign that the lane was “one-way”.
He alleged that the men had stationed a vehicle that faced the opposite direction and he had thought that the vehicle was moving towards the direction and followed.
Suddenly, the men appeared from their hideout and blocked him, using spikes.
On Douglas Road, structures regarded as illegal were have been destroyed by the men with sledge hammer.
They stationed vehicles with Government House inscription in which they stuffed some confiscated goods, including cartons of beer, sausage rolls, beverage and other items on display.
Traders who own the goods were harassed and threatened while some were observed to have negotiated for the release of their goods at a corner.
ENTRACO was established by the Ikedi Ohakim government and was inherited by the Rochas Okorocha administration. Efforts to reach the ENTRACO boss in his Okigwe Road office proved abortive as he was said to be busy attending to urgent official matters.
