Imo state government has commenced beautification of major roads in the state capital city as part of the measures geared towards implementing the Owerri master plan.
Speaking with Journalists in Government House, the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Hon. Uche Nwosu, explained that the ongoing demolition of fences along Wetheral road is to pave way for a modern walk-way that will add beauty on the road as captured in the master plan. He contended that if need be to erect fences along the road, it must be dwarfed and uniform as obtained in major and developed cities of the world.
The commissioner further explained that the exercise is not aimed at witch-hunting anybody but a step towards restoring sanity and beauty in the state capital. He solicited for the cooperation and understanding of the general public, adding that government will ever remain committed to the transformation of Imo to a model state by embarking on meaningful infrastructural projects.
