Cleric warns on looming disaster

The citizenry of this nation, Nigeria, has been warned against imminent disaster, such as the Japanese Tsunami and the like, befalling the nation in no distant time, if it fails to let righteousness and justice to reign in  the country.

Making this prophetic declaration in his homily at a service held at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) Owerri, the Senior Chaplain to the Anglican Bishop of Owerri, Venerable Zion Ngoka, lamented that a lot of things are now being done upside down in virtually every aspect of life in the country today, adding that such vices as bombing and maiming of innocent people, incessant kidnapping, armed and pen robbery, obtaining by tricks and false pretence, corruption, wickedness, deceits, enmity etc have rather become pervasive in the society,

Venerable Ngoka who made extensive references to two bible readings slated for the service and taken from Amos 5:14-24 and Romans 15:14-29 warned those in positions of authority at all levels of government, who use such positions to deny people their inalienable rights, to desist from such unwholesome attitude or face the wrath of God. In the same vein, the Senior Chaplain counseled Christians to beware of self-styled and self-acclaimed “men of God” who usually manipulate unsuspecting victims to come to them and “sow seed” and who dwell on preaching falsehood and misinterpreting the Scriptures for self interests, adding that time has come for us all, as Christians, to be focused as The citizenry of this nation, Nigeria, has been warned against imminent disaster, such as the Japanese Tsunami and the like, befalling the nation in no distant time, if it fails to let righteousness and justice to reign in  the country.
