State of Fed Govt roads in South East angers Bishop

Representatives from the South-East in the National Assembly may soon be asked to give account of their stewardship and those of them that fail to measure up to expectations could face re-call.

The plan which is under serious consideration is initiated by the Southeast arm of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) following what the body considers the non-performance of South East representatives in the National Assembly.

Disclosing this recently, the chairman of Southeast CAN, tough-talking Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma lamented that many of the legislators are insensitive to the needs of the people while some of them “are bench-warmers who have not raised any bill to benefit their constituencies”.

Bishop Chukwuma who is also the Anglican of Enugu spoke bitterly of the condition of Federal roads in the Southeast which he said is embarrassing.

He wondered why it should be so in view of the fact that “the chairmen of the committee on works in both chambers of the National Assembly are from the Southeast”.
