All is now set for the first session of the Second Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru which is slated to hold from Thursday 11th to Sunday October, 2012 at Holy Trinity Church, Iho.
Speaking to Christian Voice on the level of preparedness, the Secretary, Synod Management Team, Sir Cliff Ofoajoku, said the host archdeaconry, Iho, is not leaving any stone unturned. According to him, the last inspection showed that almost everything had been put in place for a successful Synod.
He said that the Local Organising Committee (LOC), under the able leadership of Sir Enoch Iwueze, has done marvelously well. The committee carried out massive infrastructural work and reconstruction at the venue to provide a conducive atmosphere for a successful synod.
Delegates and invited guests have been assured of adequte hospitality, as the entire venue is ready for the great event.
The only problem envisaged by the committee is the bad road at Akabo which, it is hoped, would be fixed before the kickoff of the Synod.
The theme of this year’s synod is “This God! Invincible and Ever Faithful” ! Kings 8: 8-23. The highpoint of this year’s event is Synod special thanksgiving and fund raising for the building of a befitting cathedral, where God’s people will worship Him in the beauty of His Holiness.
Prominent Nigerians expected in this august gathering include top government functionaries, religious leaders, traditional rulers and others.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, would be the special guest of honour while Chief Dr E.C. Iwuanyanwu would be the Guest of Honour.
