One of the two Imo sons who were recently promoted to the rank of Major General in the army has called on youths in the country to see them as role models.
Speaking at the Government House Owerri where they paid Gov. Rochas Okorocha a courtesy call, Major-Gen Alphonsus Chukwu noted that their success was exemplary to the youths who he said should live a responsible life.
“If we had taken to crime, we would not have gotten to where we are today”, he said.
He commended the governor for his various achievements in the state and urged Imo people to support him.
His colleague, Major General Kingsley Osuji, encouraged Imo people in various fields to aspire for greater heights and thanked the governor for instituting free education in the state.
Responding, Gov. Okorocha commended them.
“We are delighted to see sons of Imo State being promoted to the rank of Major-General. I want to congratulate you on behalf of the people of Imo state and pray that you rise to higher ranks in your profession in no distant time”, he said.
The governor, who said that they were able to rise because of their dedication to duty, honesty and hardwork, stressed that education is the greatest industry in Imo State and promised that the State will give them free support both within and outside the state.
