Owelle calls for South East/South South Unification

The Imo State Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha, has called for the unification of the South East and South South geo-political zones to enable the zones have a stronger force in their political and economic pursuits in the country.  Governor Okorocha made the call at the maiden public lecture on “Ndigbo and their immediate Neighbours: The Way Forward at Ikemba Ojukwu centre, Owerri.

He advocated a South East and South South conference to enable them organize themselves and agree on issues to be presented at a National Conference when the time comes.

“What unites the two geopolitical zones is more than the politics that separates them”,  he said, and advised them to come together as one indivisible people.

In his thought provoking lecture, Dr. Walter Ofonagoro advised Ndigbo to redefine themselves and retire back to Igboland and put their resources together for the development of the Igbo nation.

Dr Ofonagoro who decried the  World Court judgement on the  Bakassi Peninsula expressed disgust that the Federal Government quickly conceded the area to Cameroon.

Also in his speech, one of the discussants, Mr Ray Ekpu, of Newswatch advised the Igbo to do a proper networking in the South South to enable them to climb to greater heights in their endeavours.
