Security Chiefs in Imo meet …Stress need for cooperation to rein in criminals By Njideka Nwachukwu

Heads of security agencies in Imo State last Tuesday held a marathon meeting at the Police headquarters in Owerri to thrash out lingering misunderstandings among the personnel of the  various security agencies.

All the heads noted that the misunderstandings were generally among the junior ranks while the relationship among the senior ranks of the various agencies were cordial and called on the junior ranks to emulate their senior officers.

In his opening remarks, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adisa Bolanta observed that all security agencies have the same goal and belong to one family adding that the only difference among them were the uniforms.

Contributing, the commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Obinze, Col. G.T. Ajelumbi, noted  that all security agencies exist for the progress of the country and that they compliment one another.

“No one is an island; we need one another. And that is the truth”, he said.

On his part, the Commandant of the Civil Defence Corps, Imo Command, Comd. Adeyinka Francis thanked the Commissioner of Police for arranging the meeting calling for the meeting to be held once each month.

Speaking in the same vein, the Director of State Security Services, Imo State, Sir Shehu Sailawa, assured that the meeting will be held on a more regular basis pointing out that the senior officers of the various commands have good rapport among them and challenged the junior officers to follow suit.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, obviously pleased with the outcome, said the security agencies had started a new page and that all the misunderstandings were now in the past.
