Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) may soon begin to impound rickety vehicles plying the highways in Imo State.
Disclosing this at an inhouse lecture he delivered at the command Headquarters, Owerri, recently, the FRSC Sector Commander in Imo, Commander Halilu Baba Halitu, expressed dismay at the increasing rate of the rickety vehicles on highways.
He said that the Command of the FRSC will not tolerate this nonchalant attitude of such vehicle owners this period of “ember month” as the Command is working tirelessly to see that the roads are free of obstruction through this Christmas period and beyond.
The Sector Commander said that his men will not close their eyes at these vehicles that cause obstruction on our highways.
He equally advice such vehicle owners to send these vehicles for repairs or have them impounded and parked at FRSC premises throughout the state until repairs are effected before they could be released.
In addition, he warned those who abandon their vehicle on the road due to minor problems to desist from such, as such vehicles will be towed to FRSC base in order to ease traffic situation in Owerri metropolis and on the highways.
