FRSC flags off ‘ember months’ campaign at Tipper Park By Njideka Nwachukwu

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Imo State command recently flagged of the “ember Months” campaign at Alagboso Bark, Owerri, for tipper long drivers during the drivers end of year meeting under the auspices of National Union of Road Transport Workers, Tipper Branch.

In his address, the Imo State Sector Commander of FRSC, Halilu Baba Halilu warned against the dangers of drinking while driving and stressed the need for drivers to ensure that their vehicles are always in order and that they always use safety signs.

He also commended the NURTW for their spirit of dynamism in organizing the meeting.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Tipper Branch chairman of NURTW, Comrade Okebalam Izuchukwu, said tipper drivers and workers are law-abiding road-users co-operating with all enforcement agencies.

He promised that his members would make the job of FRSC less stressful and appealed to security agencies to be lenient with tipper drivers and workers as “we are the same body”.

Earlier, the FRSC Public Relations Officer, Asp. Okemiri Chimereze delivered a lecture to drivers in chirch he shows them the road signs and the meanings while the managing director of First Aid Project, ministry of Health, Hon Mark Uchenwa pointed out that water is the only liquid authorized for drivers to drink while driving.
