The Bishop, Diocese of Oru, the Right Rev. Geoffrey Chukwunenye, says Nigeria can be united if the leadership can turn to God and seek divine wisdom.
Right Reverend Chukwunenye who expressed the optimism while on a pastoral visit to Holy Trinity Church, Umuecheta, Amiri in Oru-East Local Government Area urged the leadership of the country to eschew sectionalism and selfishness and work for the general interest of the people of the nation.
Bishop Chukwunenye who preached on the theme: The Dangers of idol worship’ taken from Jeremiah 22:29-30 said that any country whose policies and programmes are not guided by God would not get its priorities right.
According to him, every country has its own national challenges but those who find solution to their problems are those who embrace God and turn their back to idol worshipping stressing that those who worship idols must be like them.
He warned that one of the dangers of idol worshipping is the attraction of curses to a nation pointing out that a nation which is cursed can never rise to prominence among the comity of nations.
Dr. Chukwunenye congratulated the all-conquering Super Eagles of Nigeria for their exploit in the just-concluded African Nations cup in South Africa and observed that if the coach had insisted on selecting the -players to reflect equal representation of the geo-political zones, the success of the team would have been undermined.
The PCC of Holy Trinity Church, Umuecheta Amiri thanked the Bishop and his wife, Mrs. J. N. Chukwunenye (Mama Oru) for the pastoral visit and prayed God to grant them strength to continue to pilot the Diocese to His glory.
