Ikeduru Knights end retreat By Nick Chibunna

The three-day retreat of the Knights and Ladies of St. Christopher of the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru recently ended at the Bishop Cockin’s Church Centre (BCCC), Atta with participants testifying to the rich spiritual harvest from the exercise.

The Bishop of Ikeduru and Knight Superior, Rt. Rev. Emma Maduwike in his charge stressed that integrity, honesty and sincerity of purpose are the hallmarks of a healthy Church and society which knights are bound to imbibe.

The Bishop counseled the knights to allow the spirit of God to take prominence in their lives so that God would use them to fulfill His purpose in His Church and entire world.

The President of Ikeduru Council of Knights, Sir Gideon Ezeji, described the outing as a spiritual revival assuring that his members would put into practice all they learnt during the three-day event with the theme; “A time to climb up”

The occasion featured prayers and intercessions, revival, Eucharistic service, Bible Study, presentation of papers as well as questions and answer sessions.

Three guest lecturers spoke on different topic.  Rt Rev. David O.C. Onuoha of Okigwe South Diocese handled the topic; “Knighthood in today’s church,” Barr. Sir E.T.C Ogbusu, Chancellor Diocese on the Lake spoke on” A knight and the development of a healthy church and society” while Engr. Evangelist Emeka Chukwuocha  did justice to the topic, “personal and family spiritual transformation”

Bishop Emmanuel Maduwike spoke on “Integrity: a hallmark of a Christian Knight and Ladies”.

In summary, the resource persons challenged the knights and ladies to lead the crusade against evil in the society as soldiers of the cross and defenders of the Christian faith.

One of the highpoints of the retreat was the recall of a knight earlier suspended on disciplinary grounds by the Diocesan.

There was also a statement making it a rule for knights are ladies of Ikeduru Anglican Diocese with full membership in other dioceses to identify with their home diocese, Ikeduru as associate members in order to benefit from all rights and privileges accruing there from.
