A group –Igbo Patriots with head quarters in Awka, Anambra State, has roundly condemned the recent cancellation and withdrawal of the degree certificate awarded to the former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu by the senate of the Abia State University on the alleged grounds that the award “breached extant rules”.
“How could it have taken the same university more than 10 solid years to realize that her certificate awarded to one of her students breached extant rules”, the group queried in a recent statement signed by Osita Obi and Elder Atuanya Okafor, Cor-ordinator and Secretary General of Igbo Patriots, respectively.
Accusing the Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji of instigating the university to take the action against Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, the group described the action by ABSU as a big shame to that citadel of learning and advised the university “to retrace their steps and desist from politics”.
Describing Dr Orji Uzor Kalu as a true son of Igbo land who has paid his dues “even at the expense of his business interest”, the group warned that they would react vigorously to further attacks on the former Governor of Abia State.
The group advised Governor Orji to face the work for which Abia people elected him lamenting that Governor Orji “who has remained the most beneficiary of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu’s magnanimity could go out of his way just to run his benefactor out of town in the name of politics”.
