Orlu Diocesan women’s conference ends with thanksgiving From Victor Clark Alisigwe,Orlu

The 15th biennial women’s conference of the Anglican Diocese of Orlu ended at St. Silas (Ang) Church, Ihioma, Orlu Local Government, Imo State recently with a special thanksgiving and various awards to deserving persons.

Among the awardees are; Hon. Prince (Barr.) Obinna Okwara, KSC, representing Nkwere in the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Festus Udeozor, Chairman Task Force on Fake and Counterfeit Drugs, Lagos State; Hon. Ugochukwu Mbika, Special Assistant to the Imo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs and Sir Michael Obianigwe each of who was honoured with the title of “Ezinwa” of  the Orlu Diocesan Women’s Ministry.

Also honoured with the Eziada” title are; Hon. Justice Christiana Anwukah and Barr. Eudora Igwe while the “Ezinne” award was conferred on Ezinne Lucy Nwadinigwe and  Ezinne Livina Onuoha.

In his charge, the Bishop of Orlu and the Archbishop Emeritus of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. B.C.I. Okoro, PhD described the theme of the conference, “the blessings and cost of following Jesus” as apt and charged the women to actualize the theme in their homes, churches and communities.

He commended the Dean of the Cathedral Ven. Emmanuel Aguoru, the Archdeacon of Ihioma, the host, Ven. Collins Ugbede as well as High Chief Sylvester Eze for working hard to ensure the success of the conference.

Earlier in his sermon at the thanksgiving service Ven. Cyril Chukwudiofu B. Okorie, the Archdeacon of Owerre Nkwoji/Umudi urged women to be prudent in managing their homes and the church.

Preaching on the theme of the conference, Ven. Okorie stressed that there is blessing in serving God and urged women to serve Him diligently.
