Gov lectures students on greatness By Chinasa Ogbonna

This year’s Children Day in Imo State featured a lecture on leadership, given to students by the Governor of the state, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha.

The governor, in the lecture entitled “leadership, how to be great”, stressed the need for students to aspire to greatness and urged them to work hard and be focused in their academic pursuits to enable them to be successful in life.

Owelle Okorocha marshaled out tips on how to be great to include forward looking, confidence, packaging, avoidance of procrastination, pity and laziness.

He reminded them that their future is in their hands and so they must work toward the realization of their future.

He said that the future of the students was important to him, which is the reason for the free education policy of his administration.

The governor advised them to make good use of the opportunity offered them.

In his address, the wife of the governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, said that the theme for the 2013 Children’s Day Celebration, “Our Children, Our future, Our collective responsibility”, is very appropriate as it reminds us of our moral and legal obligation towards the realization of the full potentials of the child.

She observed that there is no way the children’s future can be guaranteed without the promotion of their rights and welfare.
