Ikeduru Diocese drags CGC to court -for trespass By Emma Onumah

The Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru has dragged the Amaimo Community Government Council (CGC) in Ikeduru Local Government to court in Iho, Ikeduru for unauthorized entry into a parcel of land belonging to the church at Obodo Community School, Amaimo.

The Archdeacon of Amaimo Archdeaconry with headquarters at St. John’s Church Amaimo, Ven. Evans Kemka, told Christian Voice that suspected thugs invaded the premises of the school and started uprooting crops and economic trees in the school’s farm with a view to clearing the site for the erection of Amaimo CGC Secretariat.

He said that efforts to resolve the issue peacefully through the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Victor Achonye was unfruitful as according to him, “they continued with what they were doing”.

In her account, the headmistress of the school, Mrs Mabel Etoamihe alleged that the school’s PTA chairman who is also the secretary of Obodo CGC, Mr Clement Odomere, in the company of other officers of the CGC instructed her not to disturb work at the site.

She said she reported the matter to the education secretary of Ikeduru Local Government, Mr Nonso Nwachi, who according to her, urged the trespassers to provide an alternative farmland to the school.

Furthermore, the headmistress who said that work at the site has been accelerated to roofing level, told Christian Voice that she rejected a carton of chalk and 100 exercise books offered to her by the contractor handling the project.
