Okorocha goes tough on contractors By Chinasa Ogbonna

Imo State Governor, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha, has vowed to deal ruthlessly with any contractor who fails to deliver on time and on specification.

The governor read the riot act when he inspected constructions at Works Layout, Owerri.

He noted that the days are gone when contractors tricked the government into certifying their jobs when they had not truly delivered.

“I must deal ruthlessly with any contractor who is not doing what he is supposed to do on his site.

The taxpayers money must be accounted for in the State”, the governor said.

He felt for those living around the area who have faced untold hardship due the flood and erosion and promised that the road would be completed soon.

He commended the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Nick Oparandudu, for the project and thanked the contractors handling the project for the speed and quality of the work.

Earlier, Hon. Oparandudu had said that the project was aimed at dealing with flood and erosion ravaging the area.  He said that the road would be made motorable within 90 days.
