Bishop urges FG to resolve problem with ASUU

The Bishop of the Diocese of Oru, The Rt Rev. Geoffrey Chukwunnenye, PhD has berated the Federal Government for always failing to honour agreements with Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU).

The Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Chukwunenye who complained openly while on a pastoral visit to the Anglican Church, Eziala Mgbidi noted the ASUU strike had come to be part of Nigerian University calendar which must be expected to disrupt the system once or more every year.

Doctor Chukwunenye wondered why honoring several memoranda of understanding with Workers’ Unions should be a regular problem for governments in the country when large sums of the country’s wealth are wasted on frivolities.

He spoke on the danger of producing half-baked graduates pointing out that the period lost during the strike is never recovered even after the strike is called off.

Preaching on the theme: “Trust God for your Dreams To Manifest” taken from Genesis 50: 18-21, Bishop Chukwunenye encouraged the congregation to cast all their care on Jesus Christ and stated that God has never failed all those who have faith in Him.

The parishioners thanked the bishop and his wife, Joy for the pastoral visit and prayed God to sustain their health and ministry.
