A youth corper, Mr. Olufemi-Sylvanus Orodiran, graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo State, serving in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA has been commended for partnering with the LG Council in conjunction with Values and Vantage International in a 3-month free practical computer training programme for LG staff, secondary school leavers and teachers in the area.
The LGA Sole Administrator, Mrs. Grace Iwuchukwu gave the commendation while monitoring the progress of the training at the LG council hall, Afor Oru.
She emphasized that the training was apt, especially now that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced Computer Based Test (CBT) examination for candidates seeking admissions in tertiary institutions and urged the trainees to take the training serious and grasp the basis to sharpen their skills as well as broaden their horizon and enhance their capacity, knowledge and status.
Mrs. Iwuchukwu lauded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for integrating entrepreneurship and vocational training into the scheme to prepare passing out graduates for societal realities and make them more of job creators rather than employment seekers.
The Solad extolled the Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for his ingenuity in establishing Imo College of Advance Professional Studies (ICAPS) to bequeath requisites skills that would perfect graduates and make them employable globally.
Earlier, Corper Olufemi highlighted that the training he conducts Thursdays and Fridays 10 am – 12 noon for morning session and 2 pm – 4 pm, evening session weekly was part of his Community Development Services (CDS) and reaffirmed his commitment to human and national building via technology development drive, sharing and transfer.
He appreciated the LG Council as well as the Values and Vantage International for logistic and moral supports, guarantying the best for the participants while imploring them to be punctual and attentive to maximize the benefits derivable from the scheme.
