Ugoezes charged to champion support for Imo Rescue Mission

Wives of traditional rulers in Owerri Zone have been urged to continue supporting the Imo rescue mission government in her bid to transform the state to an enviable height.

Ahiazu Mbaise LGA Sole Administrator, Mrs. Grace Iwuchukwu made the advocacy while addressing them during their monthly meeting held at The LG Council Headquarters, Afor Oru.

She asserted that traditional rulers are the most benefitted in this administration and stressed need for them to throw their weights behind their husbands for smooth realization of the targets for which the Community Government Council (CGC) was set.

The Solad remarked that the vital roles of ugoezes have contributed to sustainable peace and progress in most communities and encouraged them not to relent.

She reiterated that the free education initiative of the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has relieved the royal families from the burden of payment of school fees for indigent orphans just as the “She Needs A Roof Project” (SNARP) of the wife of the governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha has given shelter to homeless destitute widows.

Mrs. Iwuchukwu charged them to promote the palm to palm initiative of the state governor and put in their best in the enlightenment of women to help entrench family moral values and social order.

Speaking, the new LGA Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), Comrade Alex Megwa assured the ugoezes the desired recognition in the scheme of things and urged them to pray for the success of the administrtation for enduring democratic largesse.

In his remarks, the Deputy Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers, Owerri Zone, Eze Chidume Okoro accompanied by Eze Joe Oleka of Oru Ahiara, Eze Stanley Iwu (Umuokrika) and Eze Engr. Isdore Atughara (Isiala Oparanadim) said they came to encourage the ugoezes and acknowledge their supportive roles.

He affirmed that the governor has not only elevated the status of royal fathers but has also free them from captivity.

Eze Okoro noted that parents and guardians can now breathe a sigh of relief from tuition fees and extortions just as school dropouts due to death of sponsors or abject poverty have become stories of the past.

The paramount ruler maintained that Imolites would not forget in a hurry the dilapidated state of infrastructure before the rescue mission massive road construction,  new general hospital buildings in the 27 LGAs of the state, model primary school blocks in the 305 wards, besides monthly stipends, uniforms, sandals, desks and chairs to primary and secondary school children.

He said he has always insured entitlements of death benefits of traditional rulers to their widows, assuring them a pride of place while urging them to foster peace, good neighbourliness and unity  of purpose in their homes and communities at large.

Earlier, the Owerri Zonal Chairperson of Ugoezes, Ugoeze Ada Okoro thanked the LG and Traditional Rulers Council for the honour accorded them and reassured their unalloyed loyalty and solidarty to the local and state governments.

The ugoezes appealed that they be considered for enumeration and asked that they be accorded due respect and recognition as wives of traditional rulers.
