Defection to APC Owelle creates vacancy in Douglas House -Hon Ogulewe By Chinasa Ogbonna

A political heavy weight in Imo State, Hon. Independent Ogulewe has said that the defection of Governor Rochas Okorocha to APC has created a vacancy in Douglas House Owerri.  It could have been near impossibility for any other party to rule Imo if the governor had not quit APGA.

Apart from this, he said “Owelle’s defection to APC is a great betrayal of  Late Igbo Leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu,”

Hon. Ogulewe who represented Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives between 2003 and 2011 said that Governor Okorocha had done very well in the areas infrastructural development and education and admitted that the governor has given Imo a new face but urged him to meet other expectations of the people who voted him to power.  Provision of infrastructural facilities, he said should not be the total package his administration can offer Imo people.

He lambasted those who are calling for the zoning of political offices in the country, especially in Imo State to be more reasonable in their demand. Politics of zoning is not the best for the country rather those who have clear cut vision and plans for Nigeria should be given the opportunity to rule, he said.

According to him, people should leave the issue of zoning and allow those who have the pedigree the fear of God and integrity aspire to leadership positions.

Irrespective of where they come from. What the people want, the chief said “are people that will deliver the dividends of democracy to them”.

On who rules Imo in 2015, Hon. Ogulere said, ‘I have always known it and it is true that an Imo person must rule the state it does not matter where he comes from.  All we need is someone that has clear records, the fear of God and the peoples interest at heart.  We do not want an evil person to rule Imo’.

He warned that if through zoning we install a wrong person as governor, Imo people will live to regret the mistake.

Hon. Ogulere reassured the people of Imo State that there is still integrity in politics, adding that while in the House of Representatives he worked with like minds to fight institutional corruption.

On the issue of one more state for the South-East, a single item in his executive proposal but “Our people joined people who are comfortable to kill the bill”.

He singled out President Goodluck Jonathan for special commendation for upgrading Enugu Airport to international standard.
