Women eulogize Senator Anyanwu

Imo Women have described Senator Chris Anyanwu as a true ambassador of womenhood.

Mrs. Esther Kamalu, the coordinator of a special thanksgiving and grand reception hosted by the women in honour of Senator Anyanwu, recently, noted that the distinguished Senator is a woman of courage and implicit confidence.

Kamalu pointed out that the Senator, through her dogged commitment to effective and qualitative representation, has attracted worthy dividends of democracy to the entire Owerri Senatorial zone which she represents.

The historic occasion started with special thanksgiving service at Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri which was presided over by Archbishop Anthony Obinna. Thousands of Imo women turned out in their special uniforms and walked with the Senator to Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Convocation Pavilion for the grand reception, thereafter.

The coordinator pointed out that the mammoth crowd of women at the occasion demonstrated the committed and unconditional love Imo women have for Senator Anyanwu who, she said, has proved that women could also be reckoned with through her courage, empowerment programmes and attraction of dividends of democracy to the state.

She noted that the essence of the gathering was to thank God for giving the state a daughter, a wife and a mother like Senator Chris Anyanwu (Ada Eji Aga Mba Gburugburu).

Kamalu who further described the Senate Committee Chairman on Navy as the Mother Theresa of their time praised her for establishing a Department in her office that sources for federal employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed graduate youths of her Senatorial zone.

She also observed that the Senator has opened the floodgate of opportunities for women both in politics and other socio-economic endeavours saying that “Never again will Imo women be considered as second or third class citizens”.

She opined that Senator Anyanwu as the icon and role model for so many women is one of the 50 most influential women in the world as stated by UNESCO.

According to her “be it known to you all now that the global wind of change is seriously blowing and it is blowing in favour of women. Thus in Brazil, South Korea, Philippine, Liberia, Malawi etc, women of substance is today President of these great countries.

Today’s message is for women to rise and support their own especially when she has pedigree and good antecedents. We must learn to love one another, shun pettiness, jealousy, bickering and pull her down syndrome.
