The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha, has again urged the apex elite organization of Igbo people, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to implement or sponsor policies that would favour Igbos in Nigeria.
Governor Okorocha stated this during the grand civic reception by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Orlu Zone in honour the National Organizing Secretary of APC in Nigeria, Chief Senator Osita Izunaso at Sam Okwaraji Stadium Orlu.
Owelle Okorocha said that Ohanaeze was not living up to expectation and accused the apex Igbo organization of not assisting Igbos aspiring to higher positions in the country’s political arena.
He expressed dismay that Ohanaeze Ndigbo had continued to discourage Igbo people who have the zeal to serve their country in higher capacities such as the presidency, adding that the organization had sworn never to give its backing to any Igbo man or woman seeking to contest the position of president or vice president.
He took a swipe at the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for collaborating in this grand design, adding that the recent removal of Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, who hails from Abia State, as Chief of Army Staff was callous and emanated from President Jonathan’s disdain for Igbo people .
Owelle Okorocha had lately fallen out of favour with the Ohanaeze following some comments credited to him after the crash of APC candidate in the Anambra governorship election.
