Joint-Council of Knights President pats Diocese of Owerri on the back By Emma Onumah

The President-General of the Joint Council of Knights, (JCK) Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion), Sir Okere Eruba, has commended the Diocese of Owerri and its Council of Knights for the facilities so far put in place for the hosting of the lst-Ever National Convention of the Anglican Knights in Nigeria fixed for Thursday, 20th to Sunday, 23rd March, 2013 at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) Owerri,

The P-G who is also the President of the Ukwa Council of Knights of St. Christopher came in the company of two-past Presidents-General, Sir Austin Onwurah, from the Nsukka Council, and Sir Ogundu Chukwu of Niger Delta Council.

In their separate remarks after inspecting the facilities, they pointed out areas where preparations and logistics needed to be improved upon, such as issue of accommodation, feeding arrangements, contacts and mobilization, publicity, to create reasonable awareness about the Convention etc, and urged the Convention Planning Committee headed by Sir Levi Oguike, to try and do more sensitization work, so that the Councils numbering more than sixty, would be fully aware of the convention which comes up barely one-month hence.

Earlier in a brief exhortation, a Curate in the Cathedra! of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) Owerri, Rev. Emmanuel Okoroafor who stood in for the Owerri Council Chaplain, Rev. Canon Onyineoma Onyeagocha, reminded the Knights that each of them was made a Knight for a purpose, and that they should endeavour to achieve the purposes of their Knighthood while they are still alive.

noted   that,   failure   to   achieve   such   a   purpose   means   that   the person/Knight has failed before God, adding that this is the time to fight the good fight with all their strength and. might, in order to end up a faithful servant of God.

The Curate asked members of the Convention Planning Committee to trust in Sod and lean on Him as they carry out their respective assignments,

The visiting Presidents were conducted round the CATOL premises by the Owerri Council President, Sir Israel Ekezie to see the facilities so far on ground, as he later briefed them on the state of their preparedness for the Convention, assisted by the Planning Committee Chairman, Sir Levi Oguike, while Sir Tim Azubuike moved a vote of thanks to the team.
