Sacrilege: Evil men invade church altar in Orsu By Victor-Clark Alisigwe

A weird discovery of fetish items placed on a table at the altar of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Udah in Orsu local government area, has sent shivers down the spines of parishioners in the area.

The sacrificial package, when opened, contained oddities not immediately describable. It was discovered by the Vicar of Udah Parish, Rev. Canon Jacob Eugene, who was on his way to the altar to conduct a prayer meeting of the women (Ekpere-Ogige) in the church.

Reacting to the weird discovery, the Archbishop Emeritus and Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Orlu, Most Rev. Bennett C.I. Okoro said that the unholy sacrifice at the altar of God by unknown person or persons was sacrilegious and the worst type of idolatory.

He said that unless the perpetrators repented, the wrath of God would descend on them.

Archbishop Okoro maintained that God knows the perpetrators of the act who, in keeping with their syncretic ways,  polluted the altar of God.

The Prelate went on: “The altar has been cleansed and God will fight His cause if these occultic people fail to confess and repent.

“As Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal in a contest, so will the church of God march on, and the powers of darkness will not prevail against it; as Bar-Jesus tried to stop the preaching at the gospel and was blindfolded, so will these occultists be converted for the onward movement of the preaching of the Gospel, he added.

Narrating his encounter with the ‘Pandora Box’, Rev Canon Eugene said he saw the box well-positioned on the altar table in front of the cross.

He knelt and prayed, collected the weird box and burnt it, after which they embarked on general prayers.

The entire Diocese has gone into prayers and fasting to avert the evil intentions of the evil men.
