Wife of the Anglican Bishop of Owerri, Dr. (Mrs.) Eunice Okorocha, last Sunday, celebrated the Mothering Sunday with the congregation of St. Stephen’s Church, Orji, where she emphasized lifestyle evangelism as best and more effective.
Preaching the sermon at the service to mark the occasion, Dr. (Mrs.) Okorocha explained that lifestyle evangelism involves word and action, adding that it is the easiest way to win souls.
Her message was on the theme, Evangelism: Bearing Fruits in Christ by Word and Action (Dan. 12:3). According to her, what people see in others lures them to Christ.
Dr. (Mrs.) Okorocha, fondly called Mama Owerre, charged Christians to be both hearers and doers of the Word.
She urged Christians not to let materialism becloud their spirit in spreading the Gospel, stressing that the low level of true evangelism has brought about widespread crime and corruption, such as rape, kidnapping, child trafficking and others.
Parents, she said, should train their children to be honest, transparent and to have integrity, adding that they should adopt the talk, teach and train (TTT) method, always monitoring the activities of their children and the friends they keep as many of them spend time watching pornographic pictures and reading what they are not supposed to read.
According to the Bishop’s wife, not to engage in evangelism constitutes sin. He warned Christians to be careful of being pulled down by worldly people.
Highlights of the occasion include the cutting of the cake and presentation of gifts.
