Christians worldwide are celebrating the Palm Sunday today. Palm Sunday, which falls on the Sunday proceeding the Easter Sunday, affords Christians the opportunities to commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem before he was crucified.
The occasion is marked with processions of the faithful, holding the palm and singing praises to Jesus Christ.
In the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, the occasion, in addition to the procession, also features the dedication of projects at the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) Owerri, Imo State as well as competitive thanksgiving among Archdeaconries in the Diocese.
The Bishop of Owerri, Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cyril C. Okorocha, PhD, directed that all churches shall have early morning church service and then, all members shall converge at CATOL for the thanksgiving.
