Christians in Enugu joined their brothers and sisters worldwide to celebrate Palm Sunday last week.
Preaching a sermon with the theme “THE MASTER HAS NEED OF IT”, the Anglican Bishop of Enugu, RT. REV. EMMANUEL CHUKWUMA, OON, spoke about the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf by riding on a donkey in a triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
The donkey he used symbolizes, patience, humility and above all SACRIFICE, therefore the master has need of that sacrifice. That is why in Mathew 21:1-13 he sent his disciples to go, untie the colt and bring it for the master has need of it, he observed.
The need for this sacrifice according to the Prelate, is for us to know that our God deserves to be glorified for his awesome love, which he made visible on the cross.
“Jesus sacrificed His Comfort, His Body and blood to take the punishment that we deserve for our sins.
The master is in need of that sacrifice now. Sacrifice unto him and you will not regret it in Jesus name,” he said.
As part of the Palm Sunday celebration, the Bishop led the clergy and wives, standing committees, lay readers and the choir in a seed sowing thanksgiving.
There was also dedication of knights and guilds. The Bishop also conducted seed sowing and memorial of his late parents who died on same date, fourteen and four years ago respectively.
